Caps United utility player Hardlife Zvirekwi and his club have been fined by the Premier Soccer League for improper behaviour in their match against Buffaloes in April.
Zvirekwi has been handed a suspended $2 500 fine for a�?unsportinglya�? pouring some golden-coloured liquid on the Buffaloes technical area including on bucket seats.
Most fans interpreted the liquid as urine.
The full back-cum midfielder was found guilty of contravening Order 31 of the Castle Lager PSL Rules and Regulations 31.1.25 thereof; a�?on the part of a player, official of a club, officials of the League, member of the Management Committee and a member of any Sub Committee who . . . behaves in a manner which brings the league or any of its sponsors into disrepute or endangers the welfare of the League.a�?
Part of the judgement read, a�?Hardlife Zvirekwi be and is hereby ordered to pay a fine of $2 500-00, $500-00 of which is suspended for the rest of the season on condition he is not convicted of any offence where he behaves in a manner which brings the league or any of its sponsors into disrepute. The effective fine of $2 000-00 together with costs of hearing should be paid by 31st August 2014.a�?
Caps United were also found guilty of bringing football into disrepute when, during the same match, their fans abused Buffaloes goalkeeper Blessing Mwandimutsira by pelting him with missiles.
The club was fined $1 750 with a suspended $250 on condition they do not commit the same offence for the rest of the season.
They were handed 31 August to pay the fine but has not yet shown intention to appeal against the ruling. -supersport.com
