A man from Thorngrove in Bulawayo assaulted his wife for peeping during foreplay with his girlfriend in their matrimonial bedroom.

Amanda Chingove arrived home unannounced and found the doors leading to the main house locked.

When she tried to gain entry she was reportedly greeted with noises coming from the bedroom.

She peeped through the window and was shocked to see the amorous lovebirds — her husband Thabo Mabhena and his unnamed girlfriend.

Chingove who apparently failed to come to terms with the sight of her husband on top of another woman, went outside the yard to wait for them to finish.

After finishing Mabhena reportedly confronted his wife and started accusing her of disrespecting him.

A misunderstanding reportedly ensued between the two parties.

At the height of the altercation, Mabhena lost his temper and assaulted his wife all over the body.

He picked up a hoe which he wanted to strike her with but was restrained by their neighbour who rushed to the scene.

Chingove reported the matter to the police leading to Mabhena’s arrest.

For the offence, Mabhena was dragged before Bulawayo magistrate Charity Maphosa facing a physical abuse charge.

Meanwhile, Mabhena faced another charge of assault following his arrest after he battered his ex-girlfriend Nokuthula Sibanda from Mzilikazi.

Mabhena assaulted Sibanda after he found her in the company of another man.

Mabhena, however, pleaded not guilty on both counts but the magistrate convicted him after she found overwhelming evidence that he committed the crimes.

He was, however, remanded out of custody to 4 March for sentencing.
