Mamelodi Sundowns were the biggest winners at the PSL Awards at the Sandton Convention Centre on Tuesday nighta�s walking away with a whooping R537 500.
With his hat-trick of awards that included the Footballer of the Seasona�s Sundowns striker Percy Tau was the main winner.
He pocketed R462 500a�s which made him R262 500 richer than his nearest rivala�s Maritzburg United midfielder Lebohang Maboea�s who pocketed R200 000 for his performances in the Nedbank Cup.
Coach of the Season Pitso Mosimane added R75 000 to the Sundownsa�� kitty with his award.
Maboe won R50 000 in the Most Promising Player and R150 000 for the Player of the Tournament awards in the Nedbank Cup.
There were murmursa�s thougha�s about Maboe’s latter award as some believed that Free State Stars goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni should have been chosen as the best player in the Nedbank Cup.
In total Maritzburg collected R350 000a�s with Siphesihle Ndlovu winning a total of R100 000 for his Absa Premiership Midfielder of the Season and Young Player of the Season awardsa�s and his teammate Siyanda Xulu earning R50 000 for Defender of the Season award.
Bidvest Wits were third behind Maritzburg on the moneya�s with the departed Egyptian strikera�s Amr Gamala�s going home with a cool R200 000 for being chosen as the Player of the Tournament in the Telkom Knockout.
Three teamsa�s Kaizer Chiefsa�s Golden Arrows and SuperSport Uniteda�s had their players winning a combined total of R80 000.
SuperSport goalkeeper Ronwen Williams won R80 000 as the Last Man Standing in the MTN 8.
Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune had R50 000 going into his pocket for the Goalkeeper of the Season award.
Khunea��s efforts was complimented by the young Itumeleng Shopane for his Multichoice Diski Shield Precious Find award R30 000.
It was the same at Golden Arrows with Siphelele Magubane getting R50 000 for his Goal of the Season award and young team-mate Siboniso Chonco getting R30 000 for being the Multichoice Diski Challenge Precious Find.
Polokwane City received the least amount (R12 500) through Rodney Ramagalelaa��s efforts which saw him sharing the Top Goal Scorer award with Tau.
