Warriors prepare for Ivory Coast clash

The local-based Warriors will spend Christmas Day in camp ahead of an international friendly match against Ivory Coast on Boxing Day.

The players are expected to troop into camp on Thursday for the match that has only Sweden-based striker Tinotenda Kadewere of Djurgardens as the only foreign-based player.

In the squad that will travel to Ivory Coast, 14 players have been included in the 31-member Afcon squad.

Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwa, is using the Ivory Coast friendly to assess the players who ply their trade in the domestic league ahead of the main camp, which begins on 27 December and will be having the foreign-based contingent.

It is the second time for the PSL players to be involved in an international friendly, in as many months after they beat Zambia 1-0 at the National Sports Stadium early last month.

a�?Zimbabwea��s preparations for Afcon 2017 are on course as a Warriors squad, made up of locally-based players goes into camp on 22 December, to begin preparations for a Boxing Day tie against the reigning Champions of Africa, Cote da��Ivoire,a�? said Zifa.

Zimbabwe are also expected to play Cameroon in a final Afcon preparatory match in YaoundA� where they will camp before flying out to Gabon for the tournament.
