VICTORIA Falls will this Saturday come alive as the resort town hosts 32 bevies vying for the prestigious title of Miss Victoria Falls.
All the models who made the cut into the final 32 are town locals under the age of 24.
“The resort town has arguably the most beautiful women in the country. However, none of them have done well on a national scale. We believe the current crop has what it takes to become Miss Zimbabwe,” said show promoter Doctor Sackneil of Bonnie Coupe Agency.
The show will be at Imvuvu Rest Camp with entertainment provided by disc jockeys from Bulawayo and South Africa.
“Local DJs and artistes such as Obviedo, King Mayi and Praise Iyke will also be on show but surprise packages from South Africa and Bulawayo will provide a show stopper,” added Sackneil.
Of late the resort town’s entertainment and tourism scene has been on an upward trend. A top United Kingdom publication Yorkshire Evening Post listed Victoria Falls as one of the world’s top must-visit holiday destinations in 2019.
As such, local entertainment companies seek to capitalise on the rave reviews to complement the town’s status.
“The Ministry of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry recently said the city is the cleanest in Zimbabwe and also the country’s re-engagement effort is working positively, therefore, shows like beauty pageants attract the spotlight,” he said.
Victoria Falls is also home to one of the biggest annual entertainment diaries in the country — the Victoria Falls Carnival held in the last week of December climaxing with the New Year’s Eve countdown.
