Tough draw for Zim womena��s cricket

The Zimbabwe womena��s cricket squad has been given six months to prepare for the ICC Womena��s World Twenty20 qualifiers where they have been placed in the group of death.

The qualifiers are to be held in Thailand, Bangkok. The games will start from November 28 running until December 5 with eight nations competing for two slots that will see the finalists jetting off to India in 2016.

Zimbabwe has been drawn into group B against Netherlands, Thailand, Scotland and New Papua Guinea.

The two finalists from the Thailand qualifiers will join the champions Australia, South Africa, England, India New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the West indies in the ICC Twenty 20.

Zimbabwe made it for the Thailand qualifiers after coming out tops in the regional games held in South Africa last December.

ICC womena��s committee chair Claire Connor welcomed the announcement she is quoted saying: a�?The announcement of the ICC womena��s world T20 qualifier 2015 schedule is great news as the eight side scan now focus on start their focused planning and preparations.

a�?It will be fascinating to see how the next tier of international teams competes against one another.

a�?The regional qualifying tournaments, the ICC womena��s championship and the ongoing ICC womena��s championship are all treatment to the fact that the womena��s cricket is thriving,a�? she said.

Zimbabwe will open their account against China on November 28 before taking on the Netherlands on the next day.

The third and final group match will be against Ireland on December 1.
