PROPOSAL gone wrong?
A 17-year-old boy is in trouble with the law after he allegedly touched a womanas buttocks a?without her consenta? but claimed the lady in question was, in fact, his girlfriend.
The teenager, who cannot be named to protect his identity as he is a minor, is from Nkulumane 12 suburb in Bulawayo and appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Tancy Dube facing one count of indecent assault.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded to July 17 for continuation of trial.
In his defence the juvenile said he had proposed love to the woman (23) and they started dating.
He denied putting his hands in the complainantas skirt without her consent but only touched her back in a love gesture to his lover.
Prosecutor September Dube told the court that on July 1, 2018 at a bushy area, between Emthunzini and Nkulumane suburbs, the accused unlawfully and with indecent intent forced his hands into the complainantas underwear.
Itas alleged the accused acted unlawfully as he did not have the complainantas consent.
a?On July 1 at around 11:00am the complainant met the accused on her way from Mgozo Primary School to collect her child. The accused proposed love to the complainant and the complainant turned him down saying she was married.
a?The accused blocked the way and the complainant ran away and fell on the ground. The accused forced his hands into the complainantas panties while she was on the ground,a? said Dube.
The court heard that the complainant was rescued by a passerby and the matter was reported to the police leading to the juvenileas arrest.
