GONE are the days when a family could sit down during primetime viewing to watch one of Zimbabweas best soap opera ever to be produced, Studio 263.
That was before Dstv took the market by storm, viewers could make a follow up of the daily episodes and one could not afford to miss any single episode of the soap. The soap featured prominent names like Joyce, Vimbai, James and Tendai.
However, followers of the soap have every reason to smile after one of the producers of the soap Joe Mawuru disclosed that the soap was set to come back next year after a two-year sabbatical as a series.
a?We are working on bringing back Studio 263. We intend to do a season through two seasons unlike before where the soap was in episodes. It was a daily soap which was in 30 episodes,a? said Mawuru.
He said they are pre-producing the act and at the same time looking for sponsors.
a?At the moment we are pre-producing the soap. We are also trying to get finance from funders as we are also sourcing out advertisers so that we can generate income to produce the soap.
a?We are also looking at scripting, scheduling the time to do the story. We intend to stretch our small budget and have 30 episodes. We would not be shooting daily but seasonally,a? he said.
Mawuru said the soap will feature a mixture of new and old faces.
a?We are looking forward to retaining most of the actors and actresses. Viewers should look forward to actors like Tinopona Katsande, Tete Jari, Kizito and Tatenda Mavetera. There is also going to be a mixture of old and new actors and actresses.
We are in the process of negotiating with other Legacy actors to be part of the cast,a? said Mawuru.
