IN trying to understand the whole scenario, no other term could have explained it better than calling it witchcraft.
A woman (20) from Mazwi Village on the outskirts of Bulawayo shocked villagers when they discovered her habit of inserting her finger and sticks into the privates of her two stepdaughters before washing them with salty water.
The matter was reported to police, leading to Samantha Mpofuas arrest.
She appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Lungile Ncube facing indecent assault charges and was not asked to plead.
The court heard that Mpofu is the stepmother of the two girls aged seven and 10.
It came out that her abuse dates back to 2017 and the children never told anyone as they feared assault.
According to the State outline, sometime in 2017 the complainant aged 10 was playing with her sister when Mpofu called her into her bedroom.
She then removed her clothes and covered her with blankets before inserting her finger into the girlas private parts.
When she was done, she washed her and ordered her not to tell anyone.
She managed to get away with her behaviour until on 21 August when she inserted a stick into the private parts of the girl aged seven.
Though she had washed the girlas private parts with salty water, the pain continued forcing her to open up to her grandmother.
A report was made to police and the two complainants were referred to hospital for medical examination and doctoras report was produced in court as exhibit.
The woman was remanded in custody to 7 September.
