SRC hails judo queen for bagging gold

THE Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has congratulated Christie Rose Prestorias for winning a gold medal at a Judo contest in Hong Kong late last week.

As if that was not enough, on Monday, Prestorias again made the nation proud by winning gold and bronze medals at the juniors and cadets categories respectively in Macau, China.

a�?Congratulations to Christie -Rose Prestorias for winning a gold medal in Hong Kong last week during the Judo competition and on Monday she made us proud again by winning a gold medal and a bronze in the juniors and cadets categories respectively in China,a�? read a statement from SRC.

Her victory in Macau, ensured her qualification to the Argentina Youth Olympic Games set to be held in October.
Prestorias is now ranked fifth in the world.

a�?This is no mean feat and we would like to congratulate her for managing to conquer the world through her excellent exploits in Judo. We thank her for putting our name on the World Sporting map and we would like to urge the country to rally behind her as she prepares for Youth Olympics,a�? further read the statement.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe Kickboxing Association (ZKA) president Tony Kamangira was on Sunday elected vice-president for the African Union Region 5 Kickboxing Confederation.
