The horror scene of the cold-blooded murder of Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa still lingers in Sello a?Chiccoa? Twalaas son’s memory.Longwe Twala was among those who witnessed the brutal killing of Meyiwa at Kelly Khumaloas Vosloorus home.
Khumalo’s children, Christian and Thingo, as well as her mother, Ntombi, and her sister Zandi were in the house during the shooting.
In seeking help after the tragedy, Longwe has found solace in God. A member of the Christian Family Church in Kempton Park, he recommitted his life to God after the incident.
a?Not that I was not going to church before, but I went to church last year in November. I told my pastor what had happened and he prayed for me once or twice,a? Longwe said.
He said the incident had traumatised him and that he had visions of what had happened.
a?I still think about Senzo every morning when I wake up. Itas not easy for me but I am fine. I have dreamt about Senzo.
a?All I can say to people who have gone through what I’ve gone through is that they should be strong in God. They must pray because the greatest power is God’s power.a?
His father Chicco said his son, who was a?missed by a bulleta? during the shooting, is receiving counselling and he is coping well.
Itas almost four months since the shooting and no arrests have been made and Twala senior is outraged by malicious media speculations linking his son to Meyiwaas killing.
He is offended that the media has reported that Longwe owned a gun that was allegedly taken by the police for forensic investigation.
Longwe said he did not grow up in a violent community and therefore he did not need a gun to protect himself.
a?The media can write what they want to write. The police took my phone and they returned it and they did not find anything on it,a? Longwe said. I have never owned a gun. I donat carry a gun because I don’t have enemies that I need to protect myself from.a?
Twala said Longwe was not troubled by such media allegations.
a?They say anybody is a killer. They say my son owned a gun, which gun because he has never owned a gun in his life?
a?They are misleading the public with these stupid reports. The media should allow the police to do their job and stop speculating.a? a Online
