Pacesetters Mutare City seek to extend lead

ZIFA Eastern division one pacesetters Mutare City will aim to extend their lead when they host the troubled Ruwa United at the weekend.
The Mutare-based side, who are enjoying a purple patch are set to collect maximum points to stay afloat while the second placed Buffaloes Juniors will also want to keep pressure on the log leaders by beating FC Three Leaves.

Judging by the two teamsa form, they will go into week 18 separated by a point as their opponents do not pose any meaningful challenge.

On the other hand the third placed team, Masvingo United will have a date with Eastern Stars away in Manicaland in a match that the former should win if they entertain chances of winning the championship.

Ironically Eastern Stars also have an outside chance of rising to the top provided the top two teams falter when it matters most.

Separated by only a pointA a?Una Unaa? as Masvingo United is known has 49 points from 16 gamesA while Eastern Stars have amassed 48 from the same number of games, the two side will also forward to keep pressure on leaders.

They would want to garner maximum points to move closer to the summit.
ZRP Masvingo would entertain Renco at Mucheke Stadium in a match that can go either way considering the inconsistency that the two sides have. The police outfit who survived relegation by a whisker last season are a side that go hot and cold although unpredictable sometimes while Renco Mine are now a mere shadow of their former self.

Renco Mine was one of the strongest teams in the league last season but they have failed to maintain a good form.
