When Kenako Music collapsed in 2015 with childhood friends “Tamuka” Makuluni and Prince “Oskid” Tapfuma signed as the main producers on the stable, the two beat masters led successful solo careers with Oskid producing hits for Zim-dancehall gaffer Winky D and Tamuka producing for man of the moment Jah Prayzah.
Soon after they separated, Oskid led the musical industry in 2016 producing the multi-award winning albums Gafa Life Kickstape and Gafa Futi for decorated artiste Winky D and Killer T’s Ngoma Ndaimba which won the Best Dancehall music album gong at the 2016 Zimbabwe Music Awards, while his counterpart Tamuka maintained a low profile.
As many thought Tamuka’s name had sunk away, the multi-talented producer resurfaced this year with a bang after he signed with the Military Touch Movement.
Jah Prayzah’s Kutonga Kwaro album, Akiliz song by Ammara Brown and XQ’s hit Nhema featuring Killer T are some of the hits Tamuka offered this year.
Their breakthrough single Tipeiwo whawha featuring Bulawayo poet Khoi Khoi which they released while they were still based in their home town, Gweru in 2014, proved that Oskid and Tamuka heavily depended on each other in as far as music production was concerned as the club banger track gained them popularity country wide.
With Tinodakwa Here as one of the best songs for the festive season produced by Legion with Oskid and Tamuka as executive producers, the magic vested on the instrumental of the song proves that Tamuka and Oskid are a production power house when they join forces.
After discovering that they heavily depend on each other, the two producers have re-united again forming a group called the “Zimboys” which is set to take the African music by storm as DJ Tamuka admits he makes good music when he is around Oskid.
“Oskid is my best friend and I make good music when I’m around him. We have re- united again and formed a group called Zimboys which we are aiming to cover the African audience with our production. We also work with different producers locally, among them is Legion who we worked as executive producers on his track Tino dakwa here,” said Tamuka.
Tamuka and Oskid, who won the best producer award at the Zima awards in 2016 for their Kenako Volume 1 production, are working on a project which is billed for a mid-year release in 2018.
