THE family of a 15-year-old juvenile who died mysteriously at his employer’s home in Gokwe are demanding a post mortem to be done to establish the cause of his death.
Last year, another shocking incident occurred at this same employer, Ms Laiza Ndlovu (57)’s homestead, where a crocodile appeared from nowhere and attacked her previous employee.
That incident occurred in broad daylight at a home which is nowhere near a water body.
Proud Ndebele of Zvikofi Village, under Chief Mukoka was found dead at the gate of Ndlovu’s homestead in the morning of New Year’s Day.
He had left home the previous afternoon with his friends to watch television at one of the homesteads in the village.
Midlands’s provincial police spokesperson Inspector Joel Goko confirmed the incident.
“I can confirm we are investigating a case of sudden death of a juvenile who was found dead at his employer’s home. The boy had spent the night with his friends, watching television at one of the homesteads in the village.
“He left them at around 10pm saying he was going home to sleep only to be found dead the following morning,” he said
Insp Goko said the body was at Gokwe District Hospital awaiting to be ferried to Bulawayo for post mortem.
A family source that preferred anonymity said the now deceased who had initially planned to spend the New Year’s eve at Mrs Thandiwe Tshuma’s home with his friends, suddenly left at around 10pm, saying he was going home to sleep.
“His employer alleges to have discovered his lifeless body the following morning after searching for him so he could go and herd cattle.
“Family and villagers are however, demanding that police do thorough investigations and justice to the matter as foul play is suspected in the death of the juvenile.
“Recently, a man who was employed before this boy, died mysteriously too, following a crocodile attack,” said the source.
The source said a crocodile just appeared from the blue, attacked the man before killing him and disappearing into the bush.
Villagers who were left shell shocked by the incident that occurred in broad daylight, failed even to chase after the suspicious reptile.
