AFTER a yeara��s hiatus from competitive bodybuilding, Mr Zimbabwe Novice 2017 a�� Tapiwa Zimhamba is ready to get back into the game and battle it out in the upcoming Mr and Ms Zimbabwe competition.
The biggest and most prestigious bodybuilding event in the country is scheduled for September in Harare.
The exact date is yet to be determined.
Speaking to B-Metro Sport, a confident Zimhamba believed the hard work that he has been putting behind the scenes was enough to brighten his chances of winning.
a�?I last participated in high profile competition last year in March, since then I have been working on biceps and deltoids. I have been doing so because I know that is what could brighten my chances of winning,a�? he said.
The athlete will be battling out for the top prize against six-time champion Lovemore Munyamana and former second-runner up Mr Zimbabwe heavyweight Themba Lunga in the mena��s physic category.
He also revealed that he was now at 100kg and was hoping that by the time he goes for the competition he would have shed weight to 87kg.
a�?I have been busy at training working under the watchful eye of Simon Gama who is my mentor and I can safely say I have been reducing kgs,a�? he said.
He also spoke about his diet and said he spends about $150 on diet.
a�?I spend about $150 on my diet. I take about 10 eggs a day and three quarter of chicken a day,a�? he said.
Organising secretary for Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Body Building and Fitness Association (BBFA) BBFA Simon Gama expressed confidence in the athlete.
a�?I believe he has what it takes to win the top accolade. He has confidence, height and good shape of the body,a�? he said.
