THE inaugural Miss Plus Size Zimbabwe — a beauty pageant for women of the fuller figure has been hit by economic hardships forcing it to abandon some of its pre-show programmes.
A message sent to the models from the office of Miss Plus Size Zimbabwe Trust director Nilton Makazhu said:
“We will no longer be having our charity event this Saturday. We have rescheduled to next week Sunday which is the 18th of November. The photo-shoot scheduled for this Saturday has been moved to Saturday 17 November as well. This is a cost-cutting measure and I hope you will all make an effort to attend,” read the message.
Twenty-five women are expected to take to the ramp on 25 November at Wing Wah Restaurant in Harare.
The eventual winner will represent the country at the Miss Plus Size Universe in Trinadad and Tobago in January next year.
Five women will walk away as winners at the finals.
The first and second princess as well as two Moderate Curvy category winners will stand a chance to represent the country at Miss Curvy Ultimate World scheduled for Zambia later this year.
With the show date fast approaching the models were due for a charity even in Harare this weekend but that has been moved by a week to 18 November.
