FC PLATINUM midfielder Winston Mhango is set to undergo a second operation on his right shin amid revelations that doctors have warned that the player cannot play with metal pins in the shin.
Mhango was injured late last season in an off the ball incident after he collided with Shabanie Mine goalkeeper Victor Twaliki while celebrating a goal.
a?The doctors have said I have to remove the pins. This means I will undergo a second operation. The operation will be done locally and it will cost $2 200,a? said Mhango on the sidelines of his clubas league match against Highlanders played at Mandava Stadium last Sunday.
Initially, Mhango told this publication that he was set to endure playing with metal pins for two years.
a?All things being equal, I will bounce back to action next season. Itas one of those things that any athlete experiences. I trust and believe that I will be fit again,a? said the soft-spoken former Hwange player.
Mhangoas first operation was successfully done in Harare and FC Platinum settled his hospital bills.
a?The club has been there for me through and through and I would like to express my gratitude. The club is still prepared to pay for my surgery bill again. My team mates have been there for me and I would like to thank them for that,a? he said.
