SINK the black ball and take the cow home!

MATOPOS Sailing Club in conjunction with Bulawayo Pool Association will hold a two-day teams pool tournament set for 30 April and 1 May at the club.

All the 42 BPA club affiliates are set to participate amid revelations by Matopos Sailing Club manager Rogers Hove (ABOVE) that the first prize would be a cow.

a?Our main reason of having this is to provide a social service to the community. I am actually bankrolling one of the BPA teams, Munyoro Community/Nketa 8 Pool Club who approached me to sponsor a tournament of this magnitude. We thought of having it outside town which will give the participants a countryside look. Participants can consider bringing their families along for a family day out enjoying fresh air, nature walking and canoeing among other things. Itas all about making people come together in a relaxed mood,a? said Hove.

a?A cow, goats, crates of beverages of their own choice. The first prize will be a goat, the team that will come out as the second best will go home with two goats while second runners up will get one goat. Clubs that will come out in position four, five and six will each get a crate of beer as a token of appreciation for their two-day indefatigable efforts,a? said Hove.

BPA publicity secretary Farai Nyandoro said registration was pegged at $15 per club and teams could register two sides.

With regards to the tournamentas format, Nyandoro said games would be played on a knockout basis race to four. Frames will include two doubles, four singles and in the event of a draw the deciding sub would play the deciding frame. The score card would have one sub slot for doubles and two sub slots for singles.

He added that the two sub slots for singles would comprised a playing sub and a deciding sub. A playing sub can be used to substitute a singles player but cannot be used in the deciding frame in the event of a draw.

A deciding sub cannot be used to substitute a singles player and hence will only play in the event of a draw and play the deciding frame. In the event of a dispute,A the umpires, team captains, club chairs and BPA officials would be consulted respectively.
