A MAN who felt hard done by a sex worker turned her into a punching bag before slashing off her ear with an Okapi knife.

Thando Moyo from Lupaka area in Lupane reportedly bought beer for Sinikiwe Mhlanga who is an alleged sex worker and Mhlanga promised to reciprocate the kind gesture with her forbidden fruit.

But she later had a change of heart after an illegal gold miner Mehluli Sango flashed money towards her.

Sango went a step higher and bought her an expensive brand of alcohol, as a result Mhlanga fell for Sango’s style.

The court heard that when Sango left to another drinking place Mhlanga joined her.

Thando, whose name literally means love, felt Mhlanga had betrayed him and had lost love for him.

The court heard that Thando confronted her but she stood her ground and went with Sango. And that is when an argument between Thando and Mhlanga arose.

Thando turned Mhlanga into a punching bag and stabbed her on the arm and in a fit of rage slashed off her ear. Mhlanga was rushed to St Luke’s Hospital and Thando was arrested. A medical report will be produced as exhibit.

Thando appeared before Lupane magistrate Ndumo Masuku facing a charge of attempted murder. For the second time he was remanded in custody to Wednesday.

He was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
