The bible commandment a?Thou shall not covert your neighbouras wifea? did not deter a Hwange man who intoxicated his neighbouras wife before having sex with her.The man, Stephen Moyo (20) from Monde Village set tongues wagging in chief Mvuthuas area after he got a fellow villageras wife drunk before sneaking into her blankets and sleeping with her without her a?consenta?.
It is said that sometime in March 2013,A the 49-year-old woman retired to bed after a beer binge with Moyo at a local bar.
After a while, Moyo, who had been financing the drinking spree, followed her and sneaked into her bedroom after catching wind that herA husband was away.
Moyo, who came ready for the mission wearing a condom, entered the womanas blankets, undressed and raped her, the court heard.
The following morning at around 2am, the woman woke up to the shock of her life, realising that she was naked only to be greeted by Moyo.
She was further shocked when she noticed a used condom on the table before reality hit home that she had been sexually abused in her drunken state.
A misunderstanding erupted after he failed to explain his presence before he bolted out into the night leaving his trousers behind.
Fearing for her marriage the woman did not disclose the matter to anyone. However, as fate would have it, Moyo approached her at her homestead seeking another sex adventure to which she refused.
This did not go down well with Moyo who became angry and threatened to assault her. While fleeing from Moyo, she fell and injured her left ankle before narrating her ordeal to neighbours who reported the matter to the police leading to his arrest.
Moyo, however, denied the rape allegations levelled against him when he appeared before Hwange Regional magistrate Mrs Dambudzo Malunga arguing that he had failed to pay her $10 she had demanded for the sexual encounter.
a?I was drinking beer with her and asked for a sexual favour and we agreed that I would pay her $10 for the night so we went to her homestead. I failed to pay her resulting in her confiscating my trousers until I paid the money. I did not rape her as she is alleging. Itas a fabrication to cover up for her side,a? said Moyo.
He was, however, remanded to 24 March where the court would decide his fate. Mr Tawanda Sigauke appeared for the State.
