A TWENTY FOUR-YEAR OLD man from Beitbridge died two weeks after battling for his life in the intensive care unit at Harare Central Hospital in Harare following a stone attack by a rival during a beer brawl.
The suspect is still at large.
Innocent Mashindi of Nottingham Estate was transferred to Beitbridge District Hospital from Nottingham Clinic, but due to his worsening condition, was later transferred to Harare Central Hospital where he died on Monday last week.
The incident occurred at around 8 pm on August 4 at Nottingham Estate.
Police are treating the matter as murder and are hunting for the suspect, Richard Siziba (25) of Ntepe area, under Chief Marupi in Gwanda.
Matabeleland South police spokesperson Chief Inspector Philisani Ndebele said investigations were under way.
He appealed to members of the public who may have information on the whereabouts of the suspect to contact their nearest police station.

The now deceased sustained serious head injuries and was transferred to Harare Central Hospital where his condition continued to deteriorate until his death on Monday.

Chief Insp Ndebele warned the public against violence saying they should learn to resolve their differences amicably.

A source said Mashindi was drinking beer in the company of Siziba and many others since afternoon when the two later got involved in a heated argument.
a�?The two attempted to fight but were refrained by their friends. When others were unaware, busy drinking their beer, thinking the dust had settled, Siziba picked up stones and attacked the now deceased.A� He stoned him three times and he sustained two deep cuts in the head and bled profusely.
a�?Mashindi was rushed to the clinic within the estate but because he bled continuously, he was transferred to Beitbridge District Hospital. They further referred him to Harare for further management where he died after two weeks,a�? said the source who preferred anonymity.
