A fight over the mobile phone number of a fellow neighbour working in South Africa resulted in one of them landing in hospital with a broken leg.
Majahezansi Masuku from Inyathi Village 4, Siganda, in Matabeleland North went to his neighbour Jabulani Bhebheas homestead on 3 January to ask for the cellphone number of their mutual neighbour who is South Africa.
It turned out Bhebhe did not have it. But Masuku thought that was not true, and out of anger, pissed in an open space at Bhebheas compound in full view of everyone present.
Sensing a sign of disrespect, Bhebhe told Masuku to go away but he turned violent and beat him up.
The issue was then reported to the police where it turned out Bhebhe had a broken leg and head injuries. In court prosecutor Mr Lungisani Bhebhe said Bhebhe was admitted at Mpilo Central Hospital. Masuku pleaded guilty and said he was drunk and asked for forgiveness.
However, magistrate Mr Ndumo Masuku convicted him and sentenced him to 12 months of which three months were suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour. a Danisa Masuku.
