CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League defending champions FC Platinum are just a point away from clinching their second consecutive title ahead of their Zvishavane derby tie against relegated Shabanie Mine at Maglas Stadium.
Last Wednesday the platinum miners pummelled former champions Chicken Inn 2-0 to take their points tally to 71 with three games before the end of the season.

Second-placed Ngezi Platinum Stars, who drew two all against Harare City in their Week 31 league encounter, are on 62 points, nine behind FC Platinum.

This means Norman Mapeza’s FC Platinum charges now need at least a draw in their next game against fellow miners Shabanie Mine.

Ngezi Platinum Stars take on the league’s giant killers Bulawayo Chiefs at Mhondoro’s Baobab Stadium.

Chiefs, are the local premiership newbies, in their first leg tie Gracious Mleya’s 30th minute penalty helped Bulawayo Chiefs to become the first club to beat Ngezi Platinum Stars in the league at Luveve Stadium way back in June.

Chiefs had then gone for seven games without a win and they defied all the odds against a Ngezi side that finished the match with nine players following red cards to substitutes Clive Augusto and Xolisani Moyo.

Bruised Chicken Inn, who are still hoping for a top four finish, entertain Black Rhinos on Saturday at Luveve Stadium.

Smarting from a massive 4-0 away defeat at the hands of relegation threatened Chapungu, Highlanders welcome tricky Harare City at Barbourfields Stadium.

In a repeat of last Sunday’s Chibuku Super Cup semi-final tie, Dynamos take on in form Triangle United at Rufaro Stadium.

United knocked DeMbare out of the cup contest on a 2-1 score line in a match that was marred by missile throwing that saw assistant referee Salani Ncube being stretched off.

There was a lengthy stoppage midway through the second half, as the assistant referee had to be replaced after apparently being injured by a missile thrown from the restless Dynamos followers.

Meanwhile, FC Platinum’s Rodwell Chinyengetere, a reigning Soccer Star of the Year, leads the PSL’s goal scorers chart with 17 goals under his belt.

Chinyengetere and Farai Madhananga were on target for FC Platinum when they beat Chicken Inn in their Match Day 31 fixture.
