Zimbabwe striker Knox Mutizwa hopes to repay Golden Arrows for the faith they have shown in him.
Mutizwa has signed with Arrows on a permanent basis after a deal was struck with Bidvest Wits, having been on loan from the Clever Boys last season.
Wits signed the 23-year-old prior to the start of the last campaign but with competition for places very tough Mutizwa failed to make an appearance before being shipped off to KwaZulu-Natal at the halfway point of the season.
Mutizwa proved to be a revelation for Abafana Besathende as he bagged five goals in 14 games and helped the side reach the top eight for the first time since 2009.
a?Iam so happy that they [Arrows] managed to make me a permanent player and I want to repay them and I want to do my best,a? Mutizwa tells KickOff.com.
a?At Wits it was tough and I was coming from Zimbabwe, I didnat know anything about South Africa but I must say I learnt something there [Wits] and I went to Arrows and it is one of those things.a?
Mutizwa adds that having two of his countrymen at Arrows – Danny Phiri and Kudakwashe Mahachi- made his decision to return to Arrows easier.
a?I didnat think twice because I have my Zim boys and weare always together and itas nice to have your countrymen in the team,a? he added.
a?Now that Iam an Arrows player Iam concentrating on Arrows with no more stress of loans and saying: a?eish, Iam going back to Wits and what, what.a
a?So now I have to work hard and I have to do everything to impress Arrowsa coaches and the bosses.a?
Mutizwa will face his former club on Friday when Arrows face Gavin Huntas Wits in the MTN8 quarter-finals at Bidvest Stadium.
Meanwhile, Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen has confirmed to Kickoff.com that he will be signing former Jomo Cosmos goalkeeper Sherwyn Naicker.
The goalkeeper has been under assessment at the Durban club for almost two weeks now and it seems his patience has finally paid off.
Naicker, a former junior international, last played in the Absa Premiership with Ezenkosi in the 2015/16 season when they were relegated.
He wanted to stay in the PSL after Cosmosa relegation, but he could not find a club and ended up going down to the National First Division to play for Milano United.
a?Negotiations are in an advanced stage,a? Larsen tells Kickoff.com.
a?We are happy with what we have seen in him so far. I think in all likelihood he will be signed.a?.- Online
