Karuru joins KaizerChiefs, as Jambo calls it a day

SOUTH African premiership side Kaizer Chiefs were expected Wednesday to confirm the signing of Zimbabwe international, Ovidy Karuru.
The 25-year-old joins Amakhosi as a free agent after deciding not to renew his contract with Belgian side, OH Leuven.

Karuru started in last Sundaya��s 4-2 friendly match win over Chippa United in Port Elizabeth and is expected to play in the Carling Black Label Cup against Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

According to reports, Karuru has signed a three-year contract with the Soweto side.

Karuru first left Zimbabwea��s Gunners FC in 2009 to seek greener pastures with French side Boulogne.A� He jumped ship when Boulogne got relegated and joined Leuven in 2012.A� He left Leuven after a fall-out with coach Ronny van Geneugden, having endured a difficult spell on the side-lines.

Elsewhere, Mamelodi Sundowns forward Khama Billiat is likely to miss the first two months of the season at least as he continued to battle back from a metatarsal injury.

He is hobbling about on crutches still but hopes to have the cast removed in the next 10 days to step up his rehabilitation.

Meanwhile, leftback Jaimu Jambo has retired at the age of 26, from football after failing to recuperate from a knee injury that kept him sidelined for two years. – Online
