WHEN Highlanders went on the record 23 matches unbeaten run in 2012 many literally heaped much praise on Zambian gaffer Kelvin Kaindu who instantly became the biblical Moses.
That moment was to be capped by Ariel Sibanda winning the goalkeeper of the year award in a year he guarded goals for the Under-23 and replaced Tapiwa Kapini after injury against Angola in Harare before guarding goals in Luanda in the reverse fixture.
On his way to that award, Sibanda had kept 20 clean sheets. All of a sudden many literally forgot that the same keeper had lost the same award to Washington Arubi by a single vote but the man deserving the credit for his work on the goal minder merely remained a shear shadow on Kainduas praises.
Then Munyaradzi Diya came into the picture in 2013, landed himself on the calendar and earned a place in the Warriors and little mention came for the same man who guided Sibanda on his way up to the Warriors and soccer stars calendar.
Before the successive Bosso keepers on the calendar, Highlanders had last provided a keeper, Tapiwa Kapini during the Peter Nkomo era.
Now at ZPC Kariba after being deemed excess baggage on the Highlanders bench the a?rejecta? is slowly and deservedly emerging onto the limelight, thanks to the heroic displays by one Tendai Hove a who has to date kept 12 clean sheets in 19 league matches.
If anything the Kwekwe born goalminder is almost certain to make it on the soccer stars calendar if not favourite to win the goalkeeper of the year award.
With it ZPC Kariba has gone 19 matches unbeaten and is just a mere four matches away from equalling the 23 unbeaten match record set by Bosso when the same man was in Bulawayo.
And this man is none other than Binga born and Hwange bred Tembo Chuma who endured a disadvantaged height induced rejection at the hands of Paul Moyo true to the biblical prophet honoured in foreign land.
Chuma will certainly make Zimbabwe football history should Hove make it on the soccer field.
This will be first time for a goalkeepersa coach to lead three different goalkeepers toA Best 11 soccer players in three successive years.
But is it that time a goalkeepersa coach is recognised?
With Zifa disbanding all national teams and technical departments, one can almost hope that Chuma can win that recognition and probably be appointed Under-23 goalkeeperas coach.
