DEFENDING Champions Bulawayo Province will be fielding four athletes in the upcoming Mr and Ms Novice facilitated by the National Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness Association that will be staged in Harare on 26 March.
a�?This year we are fielding four athletes in the one day tournament and we are confident about dominating the championship twice in a row. Durrell Hamilton will be partaking in the senior category, the young star Zvikomborero Gondo (20) is fit for the junior challenge in all men categories.
a�?Confident of winning Selina Manwell (17) is currently our only female athlete as we are still waiting for a fitness test result for another athlete Charity Juma. Mugoni Chikove(32) will be partaking on wheelchairA� bodybuilders,a�? said the Bulawayo fitness coach and spokesperson Simon Gama. All the four athletes are a product of Bodyworks Fitness Academy.
a�?I am proud and over the moon to be part of this team representing Bulawayo in the national arena with professional bodybuilders and it is my first time in such a big tournament,a�? said Gondo.
He added that he had a big task ahead of him as he would be taking part in the entire junior male categories that demand and challenge his strength and fitness.
The body builders will battle for power lifting men and women bench, power lifting men and women squats and the dead lift.
Last year the championship was won by Brian Saundombe from Bulawayo who took over the title from Blessing Nyapimbi while Edmore Yomani was runner-up as Learnmore Mhlanga was second runner-up.
Young star Ray Mutandiro took the men under-21 title as Patrick Foko was first runner-up while Lee Dzinzi was second runner-up.
Ms Novice was won by Marylyn Mangoto as Shantell Batch, also from Bulawayo, took the female fitness figure.
Provincial competitions like the Mr Harare, Bulawayo, Manicaland will be held before August 31 according to the calendar that was released early this year.
