STINK and be set free!

Two Zhombe men were saved from jail because the magistrate felt their stench would affect other prisoners.

Tafadzwa Mutumairi and Fanuel Moyo of Zhombe area under Chief Gwesela appeared before Kwekwe resident magistrate Lavroe Philemon facing assault charges.

a?Why are you producing a bad smell, What happened to you?a? the magistrate asked as their appeared on the dock.

It later turned out they had been detained for more than 48 hours and in those hours had not bathed.

Instead of putting them in remand custody for continuation of trial, the magistrate sent them home.

a?You were supposed to be remanded in custody but you can go home and your case will proceed by way of summons,a? said the magistrate.
