THIS yeara��s edition of the COPA Coca-Cola girls and boys soccer tournament will be launched at Rusununguko High School in Mashonaland East on 15 May.
Rusununguko High School are the Under 15 boys defending champions.
a�?The launch of this yeara��s COPA Coca-Cola girls and boysa�� soccer tournament will be held on 15 May. After the launch, we are expecting zonal games to kick off on 24 May followed by district games on 8 June,a�? said Coca-Cola senior brand manager Vee Chibanda.
She added that the provincial finals were set for 22 June and the national finals would be staged in Zvishavane on 12 to 14 July.
Zvishavane High School will be the venue of the girls contest while Mandava High School plays host to the boys competition.
a�?This year marks a special milestone in the history of COPA Coca-Cola. Ita��s now 30 years since the tournament was launched in 1989. An initiative that began in Zimbabwe, is now a global tournament played in more than 68 countries, reaching more than 1,3 million young players worldwide,a�? said Chibanda.
The annual tournament has produced stars who are shining in the local, regional and international clubs as well as donning the national team colours to represent our Warriors.
Such players include Khama Billiat, Knowledge Musona, Vusa Nyoni and lately Tatenda Tumba and Tatenda Munditi, the boys whom Coca-Cola recently took to Brazil.
