THE Zimbabwe cricket team will on Monday begin their tour against Afghanistan that will see two Twenty20 internationals and five One Day International matches being played in United Arab Emiratesa�� Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium.
The tour, which will end on 19 MarchA� is a build-up to Zimbabwea��s preparations for the 2018 ICC World Cup qualifier set for Bulawayo, Harare and Kwekwe in March.
Interestingly, the two weeks tour will be a dress rehearsal of Zimbabwe versus Afghanistana��s World Cup qualifier group match that will be played at Bulawayoa��s Queens Sports Club on 6 March.
The 2018 ICC World Cup qualifier is meant to decide the final qualification for the 2019 World Cup. The top two teams will qualify for the World Cup, joining the hosts and the seven teams who will have already qualified through their ranking in the ICC ODI Championship.
In October 2017, the International Cricket CouncilA� announced that Zimbabwe would host the event. In January 2018, the ICC confirmed all the fixtures and venues for the tournament. Following the conclusion of the tournament, the Netherlands (who won the ICC World Cricket League Championship) and the top three Associate Member (ODI) status until 2022.
