THE Bulawayo Pool Association (BPA) Cup round of 48 draw was held last Friday at Nokies Sports Club with the first round of matches set to be played on 18 August.

BPA publicity secretary Farai Nyandoro said as opposed to the previous editions where they seeded teams in the draws, this year clubs were not seeded. As if that is not enough, Nyandoro said this yearas event is clubs self-sponsored.

a?All 48 clubs were put in the draw and there was no seeding. It will be a clubs self-sponsored tournament and each club will pay a participation fee of $5 per round. Hosting fee is pegged at $10 and four teams will use one venue. The first round of matches will be played on 18 August after the associationas mid-season break,a? said Nyandoro.

He added: a?For the first round, 12 venues will be used and for the second round the participating clubs will use six venues. The third round will see the participants make use of four venues. The semi-finals and the final match will be played at one venue.a?

In the last edition of the tournament, a determined Exchange Pool Club were crowned champions after they got the better of highly tipped Skittle Inn on a 8 – 7 scoreline in a fierce contest that attracted a full house at Entumbaneas Espotini Bar.

Ably led by Terrence Mhindu, Darlington Dziko, Brian Dziko, Kelvin Manyame, Courage Tshuma and club chairman Timothy Garadhi, Exchange were initially down 5-1 only for them to stage a dramatic comeback and clinch the coveted title.
