Four top local bodybuilders have been nominated to battle it out for the top honours at the prestigious Mr Arnold Classic slated for 3 to 7 May 2017 in South Africa.
Mr Zimbabwe Paul Goredema will be joined by reigning Ms Zimbabwe Shantel Batch Greenland as they come head-to-head against top athletes for the biggest bodybuilding contest in the land.
Also joining the top notch Bulawayo pair is Pardon Dube who shrugged off competition to land the Mr Iron Man title in a tight contest which was held in Harare last year in October.
Naturally Dube is anxious about the prospect of coming up against some of the biggest names on Body building scene.
“This will be my first time taking part in the Arnold Classic contest and to be honest I’m nervous but at the same time I can’t wait to compete against some of the best bodybuilders in the land.
“I’m grateful to have a mentor like Simon Gama who has seen it all; he has taken part in some major competitions and scooped the awards. He gives me worthwhile advice on what to expect at the grand scene in South,” said Dube.
For Munyamana this year’s will be his second attempt at trying to land the prize in the light weight division after biting the dust in his maiden attempt. He came fifth in that contest.
“I came fifth in 2015 and it was a learning curve for me as it was my first attempt. I’m confident this is my year. I’ve been spending long hours in the gym perfecting my skills,” said Munyamana.
Speaking to B-Metro the National Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness (NFZBBF) spokesperson Quiet Shangai said preparations are at an advanced stage although finances are lacking.
“In terms of preparations, we are almost there although we are still in need of finances to bankroll our athletes who would be representing Zimbabwe in the prestigious body building contest,” said Shangai.
