A MAN from Beitbridge is battling for life in hospital after he was struck several times with a brick in a beer brawl.
Vincent Chauke (29) of Matshiloni Village, under Chief Sitaudze, was attacked by Aleck Mudisa (30) with a brick three times on the head and he sustained three deep cuts. He bled profusely and fell to the ground unconscious.
Chauke was rushed to Beitbridge District Hospital, because of his critical condition, he was further referred to Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo.
Police said the suspect, who also comes from Matshiloni Village, was apprehended by villagers who surrendered him to police and is in police custody.
The incident occurred at around 9PM on Monday at Komela Sun City Bottle Store, Matshiloni Business Centre in Beitbridge.
Matabeleland South police spokesperson, Inspector Philisani Ndebele, yesterday confirmed that police were investigating the case of attempted murder.

Insp Ndebele warned members of the public against violence.
He said engagement of third parties such as police, church elders and community leaders is important when in disputes.
