IT’S back to job hunting for fired Harare City FC coach Philani “Beefy” Ncube.
As first reported by B-Metro Sport on 8 December 2017, Ncube’s head was on the chopping block after the Harare City FC executive was not impressed with his failure to keep the Sunshine Boys in the Premiership.
And now he has paid the price with his job.
“Harare City FC has relieved Philani Ncube, Witness Munkuli and Mike Madzivanyika of their roles with the club,” said club secretary general Campbell Sithole.
Ncube will be replaced by club technical director Mark Harrison.
The club plans to raid the Caps United technical bench and try to lure assistant coach Mark Mathe from Makepekepe.
What’s next for Ncube?
Bulawayo teams — Highlanders, Chicken Inn, Bulawayo City, How Mine and Bulawayo Chiefs — have either appointed substantive coaches or have firmly set their sights on preferred individuals.
It’s not unusual for an unemployed coach to sit out the first half of a new season and get another job when Premier Soccer League teams start chopping and changing their coaching personnel in the July/August mid season break.
Ncube has been in the coaching trenches long enough to know that a coach is as good as his last game and home is where his bread is buttered.
