MISS Curvy Zimbabwe is set for a comeback on Saturday after a one-year sabbatical.
The beauty pageant, which was last held in 2012, will be held at Caribbean Bay in Kariba.
Miss Curvy Zimbabwe, which was launched in 2011, is meant to appreciate the diverse beauty found in African women.
This yeara��s contest has been dubbed a�?Supporting Domestic Tourism through Beauty Pageants.a�? It is a way of marketing tourism treasures found in Zimbabwe.
Miss Curvy Zimbabwe organiser Mercy Mushaninga said this yeara��s edition would be held in the resort town of Kariba where a number of activities were lined up before and after the contest.
a�?All is set for this yeara��s pageant which will be held on 9 August at the Caribbean Bay. The girls are now in boot camp preparing for the event and moral is high as they are waiting for the big night,a�? she said. A total of 18 models are set to compete as they showcase their curves on the ramp. There are two representatives from Bulawayo.
a�?Eighteen ladies will take to the stage for the magnificent crown. Out of the 18 ladies from around the country, the two representing Bulawayo are Runyararo Dube and Nomvula Mlotshwa.
a�?We are not yet sure of the prizes as they will be unveiled on Friday after we have confirmed with one of our sponsors,a�? said Mushaninga.
The winners of the pageant are set to represent the country during the Miss Diamond Queen that is expected to take place in Namibia in November this year.
The pageant was not held last year because the organisers held Miss Curvy Africa.
a�?The pageant was last held in 2012, last year we decided to hold only one pageant because Zimbabwe was holding a big event Miss Curvy Africa and the pageant was won by Chiyedza Gwanda from Harare,a�? she said. Reigning Miss Curvy (2012) is Mildred Shumba from Bulawayo.
