Stephen Alimenda has apologised for his own goal that denied Dynamos three points in Sundayas 1-1 league draw with Tsholotsho at Barbourfields Stadium.
On a day he was stand-in captain in the absence of skipper Augustine Mbara, Alimenda blundered to beat his own goalkeeper Tatenda Mukuruva in injury time as he cancelled Takesure Chinyamaas first half goal for Dynamos.
What started as a bright day for Dynamos ended with dropping two crucial points as defender Ocean Mushure was also red carded before Alimenda scored for the opposition.
This saw Dynamos remaining on third position on the log with four points behind leaders Chicken Inn on a weekend in which the top three sides failed to collect maximum points.
a?I am sorry for the own goal. I was trying to clear the ball but unfortunately I miscued the clearance and the ball ended up in the nets,a? Alimenda said.
a?I am really hurt. That was a match for us to win but it did not end well for us. I feel for the fans because they were happy with our lead. Their sadness is a pain to me. But we are still on track to win the league title. We just have to continue working hard towards it and everything will come out right.a?
Dynamos are chasing a fifth straight league title and appear on course to defend it. a supersport.com
