He is only 18 years old, yet he has managed to rub shoulders with the countryas top guns.
Denzel Tonga, a form five student at Errymaple College in Zvishavane has met with President Mugabe, Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa and several senior Government officials.

The pint-sized student is a former Child MP and a former Minister of State in the Vice-Presidentas Office. He was elected child MP in 2013A while he was doing Form Three in Chegato high school in Mberengwa North and his term ended this year on 21 February.

At such a young age, the energetic Tonga has masterminded projects in Mberengwa like renovating Vanguard Primary School and also building a clinic in Chomusenda Village after engaging various donors.

a?As the child MP I have done a number of projects. One of them is renovating a primary school and building a clinic in Mberengwa. I was touched by the fact that in Chomusenda there was no clinic and the closest hospital is kilometres away so I decided to build a clinic for them,a? said Tonga.

Although his term of office has ended, Tonga vowed to continue helping the people from Mberengwa and to make sure that his projects are completed.

a?Even though my term as the minister and Junior MP has ended I am still running with the vision of helping the people of Mberengwa. Some of the projects have not been completed but I will not rest until they are completedA and the facilities are fully functional,a? said Tonga.

Tonga said being elected the junior minister and the Junior MP was a special blessing in his life.

a?Being elected as the Junior MP and as the minister was one blessing in my life that I still thank God for. At first I was scared but with time I managed to adjust. Even my family did not believe me when I told them I had been elected to be the minister and to be theAA child MP. They only believed it after they saw me on Ztv with President Mugabea?, heA added.

a?After being exposed to Parliament, I have not looked back and I dream of becoming an MP or a minister one day. I want to study Political Science and join the politics game as soon as possible. My biggest inspiration and role model is President Mugabe,a? he said.
