TALK of the town!
Hwange-born Zimbabwe international Marvelous Nakamba could be on the move in the current transfer season after reportedly attracting interest from a number of European sides.
Nakamba’s stock has continued to rise after becoming a regular at Dutch side Vitesse coming up with some top drawer performances.
According to reports in Netherlands, English Premier League side Everton have been monitoring Nakamba while German sides VfL Wolfsburg and Hamburg are all reportedly keen on his signature.
Belgium side Anderlecht has also shown interest.
“As for now I’m still a Vitesse player and I’m currently concentrating on my national team assignment. However, it’s every player’s wish to play for bigger clubs in the bigger leagues. I will stand guided by my club and advisors if a real offer does come my way,” said the soft-spoken Nakamba in an interview from Harare soon after the Warriors morning workout on Wednesday.
With Nakamba’s current deal running till 2018, Dutch football website Fussballtransfers.com speculates that Vitesse would be willing to listen to offers in the current transfer window.
The Bantu Rover youth product was a key player for the Warriors during the AFCON qualifiers and is largely expected to play a crucial role in the senior national team’s third Afcon dance that roars into life on 14 January.
Nakamba, who made his Bantu Rovers senior team debut in 2010 at the age of 16, has in the previous seasons attracted interest of Turkish giants Galatasary. As if this was not enough, the Warriors midfield maestro once had trials at French side AS Nancy Lorraine.
