The ‘what if’ factor in Zim-Swazi tie

DOUBLE Easter holiday wins over Swaziland and double draws between Guinea and Malawi could automatically hand the Warriors the ticket to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Back to back wins over Sihlangu and shared wins in the Guinea-Malawi tie might just give the Warriors a big advantage because the team would be left just needing a point from the last two group fixtures.

A loss in Swaziland is probably one result not desired as it will certainly give Sihlangu a huge boost in the campaign.

Though Sihlangu coach Harries Madze Bulunga declared they were looking for four points from Zimbabwe, six points will equally see them grab the ticket in the event that Guinea and Malawi play two draws.

This is how the Easter holiday six-pointer back to back fixtures are crucial in this group.  The fixtures outcome could also widely open up the race for the sole ticket to all four nations in the group.

For Sihlangu, theirs is to make history by qualifying for this prestigious football event in the process announcing their arrival to the greater heights of continental football.

Can they really do it this time around?

Hopeful Sihlangu take on the Warriors at Somhlolo National Stadium in Lobamba on a deteriorating artificial turf on Good Friday for the first of the back to back ties.

While the two Southern African nations ,Swaziland and Zimbabwe, will be divided over 90 minutes of action, by the time the Angolan match officials Helder Martins De Carvalho, Jerson Emiliano Dos Santos and Ivanildo Meirelles De O Sanche Lopes get the match under way, the southern and northern parts of Zimbabwe will be united behind Kalisto Pasuwa and his Warriors.

Despite the ravaging match fixing saga which threatened this fixture and the marked division often created by our own Battle of Zimbabwe, the soccer family will be jointly eyeing a win in one accord.

Similarly, Mbabane usually and fiercely divided by the Swallows and Highlanders match will unite and so will the hub town Manzini – in one accord behind Sihlangu who will be trying to clear the Warriors hurdle.

And of course, this glory-hungry nation is definitely waiting breathlessly in anticipation for this encounter, which is set to provide the locals with the real test on their qualifications credentials.
