POPULAR opinion has it that influential ministers of God are superhuman and immune from challenges which mere mortals face, but it is high time people stop being judgemental and know that these ministers are human beings as well.
Prophet Andrew Wutawunashe, leader of one of the oldest Pentecostal churches in Zimbabwe Family of God (FOG), has split the church through his divorce.
Prophet Wutawunashe decided to come clean posting early this month when he said:
“The purpose of this message is that you may know some important truth about my life which to the present date I thought best to keep private for the sake of the work of God has been doing in you and other people’s lives through me.
“It’s now imperative that you know that my marriage is coming to an official end after ten years of separation, but without recrimination.
“I want you to know that in this entire period I strove to faithfully minister to you all that the Lord gave me for you, and that though this change has come to my life, I humbly desire to continue ministering to you all that God gives me for you.
“I also want you to know that as soon as it is permissible, I am persuaded that I should end the season of the past ten years or more by getting married sooner rather than later,” read part of the statement.
Meanwhile, social media was awash with messages from followers of Prophet Wutawunashe who described the news as disturbing and shocking.
It is understandable that the message was shocking, but people just needed time to accept Prophet Wutawunashe’s fate of life and move on, maybe support him like what people usually do to their friends and relatives.
After all, the church setup as a body of Christ is one of the best places where one in such a predicament can find solace and comfort.
Unfortunately, just because most people have taken church leaders as super human beings, for Prophet Wutawunashe it became a different story.
As a result, there was a breakaway group led by Bishop Henry Muzhari which goes by the name Family Covenant Church (FCC).
If people continue seeing church leaders being immune to day to day problems, then the world is just being unfair because these ministers are human beings.
We have had a number of pastors divorcing namely: Pastor Chris of Christ Embassy and Prophet Passion Java of Kingdom Embassy church among others.
Romans 3:23 reads For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
Even if it was said, one person who does not have challenges in life should throw the first stone at these pastors and prophets.
So let’s stop judging them and accept the fact that they also have challenges in life.
Is it fair for them to die in silence in the name of pleasing people, no! They also deserve happiness.
