An irate husband told a Bulawayo Civil Court that his wife had an abortion after she was impregnated by her boyfriend who is based in South Africa.
Edward Nkata claimed that his wife Caroline Chikutuva’s sexual shenanigans with her lover only identified as Chiwara came to light when she started discharging “stenchy residues” from her privates as a result of an abortion which was not properly done.
As if that was not enough, Nkata said his cheating wife was also sexually frustrating him by allegedly denying him conjugal rights.
Nkata exposed his wife at the Bulawayo Civil Court where she had dragged him seeking a restraining order.
Chikutuva who apparently got more than what she had bargained for claimed that her husband was verbally and physically abusing her.
“The respondent is my husband and has gone violent. He is always abusing me in front of our children. On 21 January he harassed me after I questioned him why he went for shopping with a female family friend. After questioning him, he started accusing me of hating the lady and he bashed me.
“On 8 February he insulted me in front of our children before he threatened to kill me. He is so manipulative and behaves in ways that he is always right in every family discussion that we have,” she said.
Chikutuva said their pastor had also tried to counsel her husband but to no avail.
In response, Nkata did not dispute his wife’s accusations. He said problems started after he discovered that she was allegedly cheating on him.
“My wife has not been faithful to me and at one time she ended up being impregnated by her lover, a Mr Chiwara in South Africa. She had an abortion which was not properly done.
“When she came back she was producing a stench because of some residues which were left during the abortion. I had to assist her to get proper medication. She is also economically abusing me and denying me conjugal rights,” said Nkata.
When the presiding magistrate Tawanda Muchemwa asked Chikutuva to respond to her husband’s accusations that she once cheated on him with a Chiwara who impregnated her before she aborted she confirmed the accusation.
“Yes, it is true that I had a relationship in South Africa and it was because of the way he was treating me. I am now of the opinion that we should try to make our marriage work and that I should not proceed with my application of the protection order,” she said.
The matter was later withdrawn at the request of the applicant.
